To Our Loyal Customers:

As Owner of Mile High Steak & Seafood, I am writing to update our loyal customers of our efforts to reopen the restaurant in the coming months. The purpose of this letter is two-fold: (1) to share with you my goals and expectations for reopening the restaurant, and (2) to quell many of the rumors and comments that have been ­disseminated since we were forced to abruptly suspend operations.  

During the past few months, it became clear to me that the quality of our food and service at Mile High had deteriorated, based on ­feedback from our customers. I simply could not ignore this fact. Temporarily closing the restaurant was not an easy decision for me to make, but one that needed to be done.

I can only hope you understand why I made the decision I did, and I sincerely apologize to all of you for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

As you may already know, due to the loss of some key kitchen ­employees, including our long-time executive chef, I made the very difficult decision to suspend operations until I could properly hire and train the necessary kitchen staff to meet the expectations of our customers.

As a fine dining establishment, I am not in the business of providing a sub-standard product, so as I evaluate new candidates for our kitchen staff, my primary goal is to hire and train a new staff capable of meeting the expectations of our customers. Simply said, I refuse to settle for anything other than providing our customers with the same ‘core values’ I set eight years ago: quality food, quality service and a clean restaurant.

At this time, I am targeting October 1, 2016, as our date for ­reopening. I am optimistic that several of our ‘top’ servers and ­bartenders will remain at Mile High and I am confident we will ­succeed in putting a team in place that will permit us to reopen Mile High this October as planned.

Many customers have been inquiring about the use of gift cards and Groupon certificates. When we reopen, all gift cards and Groupon certificates that expired during this temporary closing will be ­honored. We realize many of you have purchased multiple gift cards in the past, and we fully intend to honor them when we reopen.

Again, my goal with this letter is to provide our loyal customers with a realistic expectation for when our operations will resume. ­Hopefully, this provides you with a clear understanding of our plan for reopening.

I would like to personally thank those loyal customers who have ­written or called expressing understanding and support. It has been very much appreciated, during this very difficult time.

At this time, our intention is to re-open once we have hired and trained the proper number of experienced staff that is required to meet the expectations of our ownership. We have always strived to provide the highest quality product and service to our customers, so until we have the appropriate staff in place, we will remain closed.

Based on our intent to re-open, any outstanding gift cards or groupon offers that have expired while we are temporarily closed, will be honored.

Loyal Mile High Customers:

In my previous website post, I stated that my goal was to reopen Mile High on or around October 1, 2016. Since suspending operations, I have been working diligently to identify, hire and train new kitchen staff who will consistently meet my expectations (as well as yours) to deliver a fine dining experience on a daily basis.

I have been successful in hiring a new Executive Chef. He comes to us with more than ten years of experience in fine dining and has worked as an Executive Chef at restaurants such as Flemings Steak House and Ruth’s Chris Steak House. He and I are currently revamping our menus for both the bar and dining room.

We’re also repainting and reconfiguring our kitchen set up to suit our new Executive Chef’s tastes and improve efficiency.

We still have a few “challenges” to overcome, and we are not able to meet my original re-opening goal of October 1, but I do fully expect to reopen the restaurant in October. The variety of issues being coordinated prevents me from being more precise as to the timing.

As I stated in my previous email, once we reopen, all gift cards and promotions will be fully honored, including those Groupon certificates that expired during our temporary closing.
It’s important for all of you to know that no one wants this restaurant reopened more than I do. I’m committed to continue “pushing” as hard as I can to make it happen as soon as possible.
I have received over a thousand emails of support from our customers during this temporary closing. I am humbled and I sincerely thank you for your confidence and kind words.
